How our jet ski outings work

Jet skiing is not something you can book with us in a couple of clicks, and we would rather explain why than pretend otherwise. We arrange guided jet ski outings on request. That means you send us the date you have in mind and how many of you there are, and we come back to you with what we can offer. We do not publish a fixed timetable, a fleet list or a set route for this activity, because they depend on the day.

What we can say is that the outings are guided. You go out with someone who knows this coast, which matters on an island where the conditions can change from one bay to the next. It is a way to enjoy the speed and the spray safely, not a free-for-all.

When you get in touch, it helps to tell us a little about your group: how many riders, whether anyone has been on a jet ski before, and whether you would like to fit the outing around another activity on the same day. The more we know, the more useful our reply will be, and the easier it is to suggest an alternative if your first choice is not possible.

Why on request, and not on sale

Everything we sell online holds your place in our booking system the moment you book. We only do that when we can keep the promise. With jet skis, availability depends on equipment, staff and the sea on the day, so we prefer to check first and confirm to you personally, rather than take a booking and cancel it later.

Sending a request costs nothing and does not commit you to anything. It does not take payment, it does not create a booking and it does not hold a place. It simply starts the conversation. If we can do it, we will tell you the details and how to confirm.

We know that is less convenient than a “book now” button. But a confirmation that turns into a cancellation the evening before is far worse, especially on a short holiday, and we would rather be straight with you from the start.

The conditions matter

The south-west coast of Gran Canaria is on the lee side of the island, sheltered from the north-east trade winds, which is why the water here is often calmer than in the north. It is still the open Atlantic, though. Swell, a stiff breeze or a calima episode can make a jet ski outing uncomfortable or unsafe, and on those days we will not go out.

As a general rule the sea tends to be calmer earlier in the day, before the afternoon breeze builds, but that is a tendency rather than a guarantee. Our guide to the best time for a boat trip explains the weather on this coast in more detail.

Your guide will also brief you before you set off: how to ride, where to go, what to avoid near swimmers and other boats. Listening to that briefing is part of the deal. It is what keeps the outing fun for you and safe for everyone else on the water.

Other ways to get your adrenaline fix

If you want something fast and you want it booked today, parasailing is available online: you rise above the bay on a parachute towed behind a speedboat, which is thrilling in a different, quieter way. For groups who want to be out on the water for longer, a private charter lets you combine cruising, swimming and snorkelling at your own pace.

Whatever you choose, tell us about any requirements in your group when you get in touch. We would much rather sort out the details before the day than on the pontoon.
